Does Steve Phillips really need sex rehab?
When I heard that former ESPN baseball talking head Steve Phillips was in rehab for ‘’sex addiction,” I asked myself, ”How do I sign up?” Not to make light of the situation, but if Phillips needs therapy for an addiction to sex because he cheated on his wife three times with a female co-worker, then I suggest they should hold these sex-ed classes in the Rose Bowl, although I’m not sure that stadium would be large enough. I know I shouldn’t generalize, but let’s face it, most men have a libido problem. That’s not to say most men cheat on their wives, although the percentage of those who do would make for quite a batting average. I have no doubt Phillips will find the strength to overcome his habit of prying on young future female colleagues and we’ll see his smiling face back on TV again. Harold Reynolds landed back on his feet after being served walking papers by ESPN for allegedly making inappropriate contact with a female employee, and of course Marv Albert got plenty of ”yes” responses when he applied for jobs after he lost his mind and his toupee during his wacky “experimenting” days. The fact that the 46 year old Phillips slept with a woman more than half his age on three occasions, tells me the man may have been searching for something he wasn’t receiving at home. Some call this a sex addiction. I call it a mid-life crises.
