Time to stop trying to see through the Woods!

“This is not in the Bill of Rights, but I think all Americans have a right to screw up their own marriages. I don’t know if Tiger Woods has exercised that right or not. We might never know. It is, frankly, not our business.”  Well stated Michael Rosenberg of the Detroit Free Press.  I have no idea if Mrs. Woods will give her hubby a mulligan for his unusual behavior, but that’s between these two adults.  Who are we to act as their commissioner?  Clearly, something very strange caused Tiger to ram his car into a stationary fire hydrant, however, the cause of the crash is not my business.  I might feel differently if someone else was in the car and there were injuries other than to Tiger’s mug, but, that was not the case. Woods released a statement on his Web site, stating in part: “This situation is my fault. I’m human and I’m not perfect. I will certainly make sure this doesn’t happen again.” Of course we really don’t know what Tiger means. What won’t happen again?  Does he mean he’ll never again cheat on his wife, causing her to go Manny Pacquiao on him?  Does it mean he’ll stop operating cars and all heavy machinery after downing a pain tablet? Or, does it mean he’ll agree to take another Driver’s Ed class and learn how to keep his vehicle between the white lines?  I don’t know which has taken a bigger beating, Tiger’s image or his face, but I do know, if given a choice, I would much rather see the best golfer on the planet strike a ball over a fire hydrant.  It’s time for Tiger to return to the links and for the rest of us to return to our lives.
